GENERAL
INFORMATION ON EQUAL
EQUAL is part of the European Union's strategy for more and
better jobs and for ensuring that no-one is denied access
to them. Funded by the European Social Fund, EQUAL will test
new ways of tackling discrimination and inequality experienced
by those in work and those looking for a job. Directed to
foster an open labour market through a transnational co-operation,
EQUAL wants to fight against each kind of discrimination linked
to gender, age, religion, disabilities and education.
PROJECT EXCALIBUR
EXCALIBUR is the project Municipality of Asti developed together
other national and European partners within the EQUAL Initiative.
Its main goal is to fight against racism and discriminations
in general which often prevent immigrants to enter the labour
market. The project lasts three years starting from 15 June
2002; in the first year training courses directed to immigrants
have been activated. In the next year the project foresees
courses directed to citizens and entrepreneurs. After the
period of training, working periods in firms will help immigrants
to enter the labour market.
