TERRITORIAL SITUATION AND PROBLEMS RELATED TO OUR AREA
- great presence of immigrants in the area of the municipality of Asti
- countries of origin of migrants: Albania, Morocco, Eastern Europe, Senegal, Yugoslavia
- some extra EU countries (East Europe, South America) show a great presence of migrant women which often work in our country as domestics or in the care field.

Immigrants show to have the following problems:

a) Integration
b) Finding a job

Firms show to have the following needs:

a) Manpower not qualified, to engage for not specialised jobs (Italian people looking for a job, often have a high degree of schooling)
b) Interlocutors able to have a dialogue and aware of their own rights and duties.

The project aims at:

a) Reducing social conflicts
b) Fighting prejudices directed to migrants
c) Preserving unemployed migrants from being involved in criminal acts

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

General goal
Reduction of discrimination in entering the labour market, directed against workers coming from extra EU countries

Specific goal
- to offer a training path involving up to 400 migrants
- to insert in firms for periods of training up to 200 migrants
- sensitising up to 100 entrepreneurs
- sensitising up to 200 citizens
- spreading the results at national and transnational level

ACTIVITIES

- Setting up of training courses for migrants (linguistic, legislation, computer and vocational guidance modules)
- Finding firms which shows to accept migrants for a period of training
- Creation of driver groups (entrepreneurs and citizens) with allocation of a training directed to a mutual knowledge. Extra EU migrants can also work as teachers in some training modules
- Widespread of best practices
